MICHAEL BRENDAN DOUGHERTY is a writer living in Mount Kisco, New York.

His work has appeared in The Awl, The Washington Monthly, The Guardian, Politico, Doublethink, and ComedyCentral.com where, oddly, he broke the news of Donald Rumsfeld's resignation from the Bush White House. He has chased presidential candidates in New Hampshire, democratic reformers in Egypt and poker players at the final table.

He is a contributing editor to The American Conservative where he worked as an Associate Editor from 2006-2009. He is the winner of a 2009-2010 Phillips Fellowship.

His essay, "Splendid Isolation" will appear in a collection from Harper Collins this October.

He is currently working on his Phillips Fellowship and his short fiction.
